The YMCA of Middletown’s programs focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This YMCA serves all of Orange County and southern Sullivan County from four branch locations and an outdoor education center. In Middletown, the Center for Youth Programs houses a preschool, Universal Pre-Kindergarten program, summer day camp, and many other youth programs. The main branch in Middletown has a pool offering a range of aquatics programs, including a youth swim team; both the main branch and the South Orange location have full fitness centers, and each facility offers a variety of health and wellness programming including group fitness classes.
Key Programs:
- Childcare and Summer Camp – The YMCA offers before and after school childcare programs at 25 schools throughout Orange County. For younger children aged two through pre-kindergarten, preschool/childcare is offered all day, five days a week. All-day summer camp is offered in two-week sessions throughout the summer, with options for early drop-off and late pick-up. Scholarships make all of these programs accessible to families with low incomes.
- Kids Night Out and Beat the Streets programs – The YMCA runs periodic Friday and Saturday evening programs during the school year at three of its locations for both young children aged 3-9 years, and older youth aged 10-15. Activities include music, art, group activities, sports, and swimming; the small fee ($2-10, waived if needed) includes pizza, drinks, and snacks.
- Family Memberships – The YMCA provides significant financial assistance to families towards the cost of family membership, believing strongly in the benefits of its programs to the whole family, particularly when all members of the family participate together.
