Based in Lewis County, Hand in Hand Early Childhood Center provides high quality care and early education for all children in a safe and nurturing environment, with responsive, loving care and enriching opportunities and experiences that are developmentally appropriate to build self-esteem and independence. Following the opening of its new childcare facility in the Harrisville Central School, Hand in Hand was presented with the 2024 New York Rural Small Business of the Year award. Hand in Hand is funded through the Foundation’s Legacy & Family Interest grantmaking program.
Key Programs:
- Daycare and Preschool – a critical support service for working parents, Hand in Hand’s childcare center serves children ages six weeks to school age.
- Before- and After-School Care – before-school care is offered at the Lowville elementary school beginning at 6:30am, providing critical early morning childcare for working parents; after-school care is offered in both Lowville and South Lewis schools, providing homework assistance, after-school snacks, and fun, educational activities for children up to age 12.
- Summer Program – fun and educational activities for school-age children during the summer months.
