The Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center

Founded in 1887, Vassar Brothers Medical Center is part of the Health Quest Systems, Inc., offering a full range of medical and surgical services to residents of the Mid-Hudson Valley, including the underserved and uninsured. It is the sole regional provider of several specialty services, including a full-service radiation treatment facility in the Dyson Center for Cancer Care.

In 2014, the Dyson Foundation awarded funds to the Vassar Brothers Medical Center Foundation toward creation of a one-stop, standalone center for breast health in the hospital’s new ambulatory surgery center. The Dyson Breast Center opened in 2015 and is expected to serve nearly 16,000 patient visits annually, an increase of 31% from three years prior.

In addition to new patient-waiting areas, exam and procedures rooms, and office space, the new Breast Center allocates more than half of its 11,500 square feet to imaging and treatment technology, and two new three-dimensional mammography units that are separate from the main Dyson Center for Cancer Care.

Grants to Vassar Brothers Medical Center Foundation reflect the Dyson Foundation’s commitment to Health & Safety Net funding, and to quality health care services for residents of the Hudson Valley of all income levels.
