Our History
In 1957, when Charles H. and Margaret M. Dyson created their foundation, there were about 4,000 foundations in the United States, compared to 86,000 today. A pioneer in the field of leveraged buyouts, Charlie Dyson said they started it because:

“We were making a little more money than we expected
[and] not giving away as much as we felt we should.”
