Project Support Grants by Programming Area 2011The Dyson Foundation makes project support grants available to 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organizations in the Mid-Hudson Valley. In limited circumstances, we will also make grants to faith-based organizations, government entities and libraries. We define the Mid-Hudson Valley as Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, and Ulster counties. We place particular emphasis on Dutchess County, our home community.  Note that there are separate guidelines for Dutchess County and for the other Mid-Hudson Valley counties. Recent project support grants can be seen here.

In 2009 the Dyson Foundation changed its grantmaking priorities to best support the  people and communities in our region most vulnerable to the economic downturn. Our funding now focuses on organizations and activities that address basic needs such as food, housing, health care, and other human services.

We have also increased the funds available through our Management Assistance Program, which includes our Mini-Grant Program for capacity building and our Nonprofit Strategic Restructuring Initiative.

Unfortunately we are not currently funding certain areas including: the environment, historic preservation, and capital projects. We will consider limited funding to arts organizations or projects that provide management support or training to other arts organizations, and to arts organizations or projects that can demonstrate the potential to increase local tourism and employment and/or other local economic development as a result of their efforts.
